Most analysts agree that the US has little chance to win. The US military is stretched
thin and, thanks to the war in the Ukraine, its weapon stockpiles are woefully
depleted. Israel itself is reportedly suffering unprecedented destruction, although
military censorship continues to make accurate assessments difficult. As the war
continues, President Trump’s unhinged rhetoric is matched by the barbaric actions of
the US military.
Committing war crimes against civilians is nothing new for the United States.
Throughout the so-called Indian Wars, the US military turned to a strategy of mass
starvation. These tactics included a scorched earth policy against many American
Indian tribal nations and led to the near extinction of the American Bison. One U.S.
military colonel explicitly stated, «Kill every buffalo you can! Every buffalo dead is an
Indian gone.» From an estimated 45 million bison across North America before the
arrival of the Europeans, fewer than 100 remained in the wild by the end of 1880s.
During the Korean War the US Air Force is on record for saying that they ran out of
targets to bomb in the North. That’s when they turned to bombing civilian
infrastructure. According to Quarterly Review Staff Study Vol. 6, No. 4, Winter
1953-54, “[T]o the Communists the smashing of the dams meant primarily the
destruction of their chief sustenance — rice. The Westerner can little conceive the
awesome meaning which the loss of this stable food commodity has for the Asian —
starvation and slow death. «Rice famine,” for centuries the chronic scourge of the
Orient, is more feared than the deadliest plague.”
The US logic in its war conduct was succinctly stated in a Vietnam war report from
journalist Peter Arnett quoting a US military officer who said, «It became necessary
to destroy the town to save it.”
These are just a few examples, with major US atrocities against the people of the
Philippines, Haiti, Nicaragua, Indonesia, Afghanistan, and many countries in Africa left
unremarked. It goes without saying that the vast majority of all US military actions
since World War II have been conducted in violation of the United Nations charter
and without the approval of the UN Security Council.
While the US has engaged in countless military operations, its success rate is not
very good. In this century alone, Irak, Afghanistan, Libya are notable engagements
where the US has not been able to impose its will despite the use of massive force.
Another common trait is the wonton destruction of the countries before the US
left. So while the US cannot win against Iran, the question remains how will it lose?
Unlike other nations the US has attacked, Iran is different in its size, its preparedness,
and its strategic thinking. Iran is also in charge of a region that is crucial for the US to
control if it is to maintain its empire in a multi-polar world. In this new geo-political
reality, the US must do everything it can to weaken its number one adversary, China.
As the leader of its own region in the emerging multi-polar order, China has
considerable leverage over the US. But China is also vulnerable in some areas. For
example, China’s fossil fuel import dependence is 73% for oil and 61% for gas. Other
Asian countries are even more dependent on energy delivered from the the area. So
the US does not have to “take” Iran’s resources (oil, gas, minerals), it needs to
control them. And if it cannot control them, then the US must destroy them.
This is why the use of nuclear weapons is being seriously considered. Worse still, the
US doesn’t even have to “be seen” using nuclear weapons. This is what Israel is for.
Even if Washington pretends to “give up” and leave the region, it can still unleash its
main strategic asset, Israel, which has no reason not to use its nuclear arsenal.
Without US protection, both diplomatic and military, Israel has no chance to survive
as an apartheid, zionist entity. It is easy to see that a “democratic” Israel would soon
revert to its true name, “Palestine”.
The only other alternative is that the US agree to leave the region peacefully while
simultaneously exerting sufficient influence on Israel to stand down. This type of
behaviour by an imperial power has no precedence. But as history has shown, when
the US loses, it tends to take down everyone with it.
